Just finished week 2 so fairly new myself. Best advice is to use the rest days to rest and maybe some stretching and take it slow during the runs, be the 🐢 not the 🐰.

Well done and keep at it 👍🏻👍🏻🏃

Follow the programme, make sure you rest, take your time and don't rush the runs. Relax and slow down so that you complete each part.

Make sure you have good running shoes.

But most of all enjoy the runs and your success.

I started on the 9th March and have been running 3ish times per week, and am now on week 9 and will likely graduate this weekend!!

When I started I didn't really do any 'proper' exercise (occasional walks to shops/kids schools and around parks at weekends etc.), and had a BMI over 30.

I felt a bit daft starting-what's the point in walking for half of your run? What do you wear? Where should I go? But Laura(or someone else on the other podcasts) is really encouraging to help you along the way. Go at a slow pace-its not a race. If you need extra days rest in between runs then that's ok. If you need to do a run for a 4th time instead of 3 then that's great too. If it takes 12 weeks instead of 9 it really doesn't matter.

Mentally-getting out of the door was the worst thing. Once I was out of the house-no one seemed to notice how slowly I thought I was going, or my frequent walking periods, or my lack of 'running' clothing. People just concentrated on themselves. So don't worry about what you think others might be thinking!!

Its a gradual build-up with the podcasts/app, and at times it will feel harder then others, and other times you feel SO proud of yourself!! Use these forums to get advice as you need it as there is always someone willing to help out!

Just enjoy it and get going!!!

You have taken the hardest step.... beginning the journey :) Well done and welcome.

Follow the podcasts, take your rest days... do extra exercise on those days , anything you fancy...just not running. Keep it slow and keep it steady... :)

The motivation is what you want it to be... all our goals are different... but... the common, wonderful benefit we get from this amazing forum is physical and mental well being... :)

Good shoes, ( and they need not be expensive) wear comfortable and not baggy clothing.. ( it may slow you down :))...Also wear self-confidence.. the best outfit ever :)

Do keep posting.. each success or set back... we will encourage, sympathise, empathise, and even give you the odd shove if necessary...:) ( that will be me ) ! We have been there, felt it, experienced it and survived... we are right there with you all the way.

If you want it, it's yours...

"Ambition is the path to success, persistence is the vehicle you arrive in " :)

Go for it :)
