Do the run on Friday then. You are not obliged to do it tomorrow. Listen to your body.

Maybe that will be for the best - I'll see how they feel tomorrow afternoon! Thanks

I attempted my first day yesterday. I am taking a 2 day rest because my thighs are killing me today. I need to get new shoes as well, and Friday is payday. Let's just do this as we can so we don't get frustrated and give up.

Take it nice and slow and easy...and SLOW :) Don't worry about '5K' or '9 weeks' for starters - less than 10% graduate with that :)

The programme is a guideline - it works beautifully but common sense is necessary also. You don't push too hard, you CERTAINLY don't run on the Rest days and you patiently progress incrementally in building up the stamina that one fine morning will let you feel you can run to the rising sun and back (that last does not happen EVERY run ever - but it does happen enough times to be highly satisfactory :) )

your legs won't kill you, never fear - its was the damn Couch that was killing me by inches ;)

Slow and steady WILL get you to Graduation and beyond just like it got us here :)

Wishing you many happy miles in your futures :)

Don't look too far ahead -baby steps! And listen to your body.

HOWEVER, don't get tempted to keep putting things off either because nothing beats that sense of achievement when you complete another run. I run with a friend and we spur each other on. I'm sure I'd not turn up at the park sometimes if I didn't think I'd be letting her down. Have you got someone who could be a running partner? The time passes much more quickly with a running buddy.

Listen to Irish-John, he knows his stuff. And if a stranger did not offer to call an ambulance for you on your first run, you are doing better than he was!!! He graduated and runs 10k races now, so listen to him.

The word you will see most often on this forum is S L O W🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢

Keep smiling and keep posting.

Thank you for your mind words Bb. I just need to clarify though I'm not running 10k takes yet, got the distance alright but just as with 5k am patiently consolidating it :)

Are you doing stretches after your run?

It's fine to take 2 rest days between runs if you need to. Listen to your body and don't push yourself too hard that you run the risk of injury

Also remember slow is the way to go and you'll be fine

I felt like that yesterday and wasnt sure I could do todays run, but I felt much better when I got up and I aced my run. See how you feel tomorrow, Rest days put a lot of things right. If you need another rest day take it! They are just as important as the runs.
