Hiya everyone xxx I'm feeling a lot better than I did a few days ago and ready to start week 2 again 😞 does anybody do run on treadmill as I think it will be a bit easier in my shins rather than the pavement and also want to use gym so I'm not wasting my gym membership xxxx I look forward to your advice xxx
Can I do couch to 5k on treadmill: Hiya everyone... - Couch to 5K
Can I do couch to 5k on treadmill
Yes, lots of people do C25K on a treadmill, and I agree, it's probably easier on the shins, but why not do a bit of both? Running outside is lovely, you get fresh air as well as exercise and get to see far more interesting things than a gym wall.
If your shins are hurting, could it be your shoes? I got shin splints in week 2 because I was just wearing trainers, you need proper, properly fitted running shoes. They are expensive but worth every penny...
Thank you this is great advice where is the best place to go for running trainers xx
Most sport shops will do "gait analysis" - they film you running on a treadmill, then slow it down to look at your style. Don't worry, it's not as scary as it sounds, and doesn't take long. Most shops will offer a 30 day guarantee on shoes they have recommended after your gait analysis (check first though) even if they are covered in mud. This means they have a vested interest in getting it right!
let me know how you get on xxx
Ohhh sounds scary how much do they cost approx may have to wait until payday lol xx
You could try 'On-Running.com' - they're a Swiss company but the running shoes are lush, even if a little expensive - then again, what price do you put on your body! Treat yourself - I got some lovely blue and yellow ones and they really are supportive and the model I bought (CloudFlyers) really do propel you forward - that is to say, so long as you're leaning forward a little when you're running anyway - that really helps!
I agree with the proper running shoe advice. I got really soar heels when i first started and was wearing trainers. Now that i have proper running shoes that's gone. I do my teaining in the gym. Not done any outside yet but hope to get the confidence to soon. I am currently on week 7.
Of course you can Catherine23 and it's a little easier on a treadmill (which is of course better for your back and shins) but you won't get the variety of terrain and speed as you do outside because you're effectively 'forced' to move on a treadmill (although I appreciate you can alter the incline and speed as you desire). Personally, I find it rather boring on a treadmill to be honest but that's me - everyone's different. I have to say I did my W7D3 yesterday on the treadmill (25 minutes running, wooohoo!) because it was peeing down with rain and it was easy .... ish! I just prefer running outside enjoying the fresh air and seeing people but each to their own - you're running/jogging and that's the most important thing to hang on to - go girl, we're all behind you - ENJOY wherever and however you do it
I run on a treadmill because I live in Bangkok and it's exceedingly hot, the pavements are terrible, it's crowded and at certain times of year torrential rain turn the streets into rivers! It can get boring but it gets the job done so to speak! Good luck wherever you run
Glad to hear you are feeling better😀😀Sounds like you have lots of choices, on days when weather is fine and you feel like going outside do so, if the drive to the gym is enough to put you off one day, maybe stepping outside front door is easier, other times bring in the treadmill. Just acknowledge that they are different and don't try to compare a run you did inside with one outside. Sending positive vibes from across the ocean😀>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<
You can do but I think it would be Mind-blowingly boring 😃
I think Karrimor Tempo are on offer at £25 at the mo. I really like them. Comfy straight out the box. Go at least a half size up though 😃
It is only boring if you have nothjng to think about or listen to. I switch to my own music or my language course. Makes the time pass very quickly. I will try outside eventually but for now...the gym is good for me.
Hey I listened to an audio book and the time flew I love music but a book made it go a lot quicker xv
Yipeee done week 2 run successfully on treadmill and my shins didn't hurt or burn xxx
Seriously you guys are amazing your support and knowledge blows me away xx thank you 😊 xxxx
I run 3 runs on the treadmill then 1 outside each week ( it means I am taking a little longer to complete the programme) it suits my knees and I feel more confident indoors. I bought some running shoes by Karrimor for £25 they are great.
