1st Parkrun

Yesterday was much anticipated by me & I was very much looking forward to officially running the route - I have done it unofficially and in 40 minutes so was looking to run it faster; anyhoo - my first lap of the lake (route is twice around the lake with 2 blinking hills in it....bleugh) was not too bad, I had to walk a bit because legs were lead filled yesterday but I was still on a good time. Started lap 2 and caught up with a friend's 11 yr old daughter who was also doing it for the first time and was struggling, so I forgot about time and walked/run with her encouraging her to get to the end, which she did. I achieved what I wanted time wise & finished in 38 minutes 55 seconds, 11 yr old came in 1 second faster than me & was chuffed to bits. It was well worth giving up trying to run faster to help her finish and to see her face at the end. There's always next week for time :D :D

Good job with the encouragement, that's such a big bit of what Parkrunis all about

What a kind thing to do Dhiny. I bet you made that girls day! It wasn't a bad time either!
