Dont know what area you live in cheryl , but having a running buddy might not be the answer to your problem . If you look at my wk3 posts you will see me blubbing about how hard i was finding it and didnt know how i was gonna get through anymore of it . But the diamonds on this forum all had the same advice..SLOW DOWN . Think of how slow a snail moves , then imagine it in slow motion , thats the sort of pace you want . DO NOT even think about speed, that may come later , it might not. The purpose of the app is to get you jogging for 30 minutes at a pace you can sustain without it killing you , so forget about the use of 5k in title name . Im now on week 7 with run 3 to complete , so slow right down try and get your breathing right with your pace and you will breeze it. the 1st 4/5 weeks all seem to be working on your stamina and building you up for week 6 where the solid blocks of runs start and onwards to the end . Stick with it , i nearly didnt but i promise you im glad i did AND YOU WILL BE TOO . If you think that a buddy is what you need , then im sure you will find one on here.
BEST OF BRITISH AND ALL THAT
Thanks I'm definitely going to keep going
I've have a already walked/jogged very slowly 5k in 48 mins
So I know being on here and getting encouragement is all I need
Good luck to you too π
parkrun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of people there to walk/jog/run with Accompany the tailrunner on your first visit - that way you will have somebody to talk to as you go around - and you know that you won't be last (the tailrunner always comes last) !!!! You can then try harder on the next week
If you are only on W3 you really should not be doing 48 minute 5ks
I did a park run and it felt good π
I'm doing it again this Saturday it does not matter about the minutes for me it's taking part and completing
As Rignold says at week three you should not be doing a Parkrun, unless you are sticking to the programme requirements and then walking the rest.
There is a real danger of over use injuries when doing too much too soon. The programme is tried and tested and will get new runners to running 30 minutes if you follow it.
Following the programme is wise as it's carefully structured over 9 weeks
It is great to do the sessions with Laura, or whoever you choose, to talk you through the sessions. It's like having a coach alongside you every step of the way
