Did yet another W5R3 pracice run again today - oudoors, following my local 5K Parkrun course (lovely park and a great day to be outdoors). Didn't get to 15 minutes of the 20 mins running period but then - with no break - I carried on walking out the full 5K course. Result, therefore mostly walking with the odd extra little jog thrown in from time to time, was 48:03. After looking online at the times of the tail-enders I've decided that all being well I am going to join in my local Parkrun this Saturday: I think the company will be good for my flagging morale. It will also give me a base time for 5K to improve on. Thanks to everyone for their support, I really really do appreciate it and without it I would probably have given up by now. Be sure that I'll get there in the end, I'm a determined stubborn old whatsit! ... and if I hadn't started the C25K programme you can be absolutely certain you never have found me walking a brisk 5K in a park!
Well .......: Did yet another W5R3 pracice run... - Couch to 5K
Well .......
Oh that's great news! It will be lovely to have some company and feel part of something happy and positive. Parkrun is great. I'm always in the slow bunch but I never feel judged by the speedy ones. Folk are just all there to do their best, and maybe make some new friends along the way.
Go for it David, and enjoy! 🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻
Go David... stick at it... as ever.. you know the form. Well done you x
You echo one of the changes I've found - a different perception of distance. Before starting C25K I thought of 5 km as a really long way, certainly I could never run that far, it was only "runners" that did superhuman things like that. Now I'm apologetic that "I only run 5K" and I hope that this year I'll be the same about 10K - and who knows beyond that!
