W7R1 Completed ! 1 down 2 to go. πŸ˜„

β€’12 Replies

Well I managed to it. However I did find it harder today. I think maybe it was because I was wearing my running jkt. This was done to hide my slight muffin top! Such a vain old doll ha! A way aside from that it was great and what a great feeling at the end.still can't manage to go a little faster on the last minute as our Laura encourages us to do,especially as where I live consists of slight inclines ,muddy lanes, and potholes galore! Never mind it's still great!πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Thank you Dunder2004.! πŸ˜„

Well done ! While I was doing C25K I had to ignore the encouragement to step up the pace. I never had anything left in the tank to increase my speed. Sometimes I may have a little to increase my running time, but very rarely.

The main thing (as others say) is not to worry about the speed but increasing time and stamina. I do about 40 to 45 minutes at best now for about 6 1/4 K. I find when drop down to 5K it's a lot easier. I said to myself (As I have bored others with this quote) "My aim was to run 30 minutes get fit and healthy, anything else is a bonus".

Hope like me you make it a good habit . The sense of achievement and health and well being is something I don't want to give up.

Keep us all posted.

Thank you! Joepublic so great to hear good advice and if you don't mind I would love to use your quote . I shall us it as my mantra as I am going on my runs. You are quite right it is hard to try and get something more out of the tank when it is empty. However I think I'm doing ok for someone who is 59 ,semi retired and works in a very busy theatre department NHS,so my days at work are my rest days depending how the week falls. Anyway will keep you all posted about progress.Doing two 5k runs this year . Hereford running festival in May (St Micheals Hospice) and Race for life (cancer research pink ladies) so looking forward to them.πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Don't know my exact time as didn't have watch on just my Fitbit. However I did glance at my clock in kitchen. Started my 5 minute warm up at 0.945 the after that ran for 25 mins and returned home at 10.25 .I think that was ok? πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

I'm lucky I'm 61 now and became "Semi" retired at 60 just over a year ago. I have more time and less pressures.I know it is difficult with time pressures with work and life especially working in NHS. My daughter in law is a Ward Sister and rushed off her feet !Anyway as they say don't worry about the speed the main thing is "doing the time". Your time sounds good anyway. Sometimes last part of my run up a hill home for 1/2k is a plod hardly faster than a walk !

in reply to

Exactly joepublic. I know what you mean about the plod, but oh what a great feeling when we have completed the run. There are a few hills and inclines where I live too as I live in the sticks (beautiful) wouldn't change it for the but sometimes it is hard. I work in anaesthetics so it is a busy and heavy work load, have been in NHS since 93 so a few more years then I can retire fully and just run! run! run! ha! πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„
