....nothing quite like it for, er, knocking your chances of setting a parkrun PB!
Off to Erddig this morning, and I knew it was likely to be a little interesting underfoot, have to admit I don't know how some people managed to run it without losing their footing - my Fujitrabuco Trail Runners weren't enough to stop me feeling like I could slip and slide all over the place... the other thing is, it's a lot more tiring than tarmac! 20 minutes in I was gingerly walking across a sea of mud, and I'm actually rather pleased with my 38:17 - only 15 seconds slower than my course PB, and looking down the results list there were comparatively few PBs which says to me that it was a tough one for a lot of people today.
I think I'm going to look at including the occasional bit of hill training (maybe once a fortnight or so) to try and get used to it, as usual though the thing with any of this will be... START SLOW!

Souns like a good run! I love a bit of mud, and you're right, not even trail shoes can take away all that slipping and sliding around (and I run in Fujitrabuco's too!)☺
Yes, start slow at the base of the hill and slowly climb your way up, pausing for breath as required. No hurry. It's fantastic when you finally climb the same hill and crest the top without even noticing you ran up it . A moment of glory for sure.
Mud is very tiring to run through. The runners with more grip may have been wearing mud-specific shoes like the Inov8 Mudclaw. You can't afford a shoe for every scenario so we have to slow down a bit or walk the dodgy bits. Fun though!
