So my son, who runs for Tipton Harriers, has signed me up (along with my daughter and husband) for the annual Boxing Day 5K Handicap. This will be my first 'race' which I have to pay to enter. There will be alot of athletes running. I hope there will also be a few folk like me. Along with the Christmas Eve Fancy Dress Parkrun I have an active weekend ahead!

Boxing Day Handicap
Sounds like loads of fun. We'll be expecting post-run reports for both events. Is fancy dress what I think it is? That would be hilarious.
What do you mean a few folk like you? You are a runner!
I'm sure there will be. There is a great variety of people in the running community, any event I have been to there have been all kinds of runners, and support right up until the last runner finishes.
You will be fine, just go out there and enjoy it.
You are going to have a blast! Enjoy, enjoy, smile, smile, smile! 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻👏🏻👏🏻😀😀🍾🍾💐💐
I've bought some trail shoes as most of the route will be on grass/dirt (mud). Hopefully they will provide some grip if it's wet! It sounds like a good day out. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. The idea is that you tell the organiser your fastest 5K time in advance and each person starts at a set time. So the slowest start first, followed by the fastest. The idea is that everyone finishes together.
