So chuffed with myself as had certainly not planned a 5k as it was really cold up here 0degrees when I left the house but I'd only had one run this week & determined to get the second one done so after my granny babysitting duties I set out for my run at 4pm so getting dark! Anyway thought I'd take my dear friend Flossie 22s advise & just go for 20mins!! Better than nothing I thoughtππanyway on "random" routes!! Just ran where there were lights & roadπ o and inclines!!! (Ok maybe not hills!) felt like hills though when I got to 20mins thought I might as well try for 30mins.... 3.5k... Then might as well do 4k ... & low & behold just kept running till 5k!!! 20secs faster than my first 5k so maybe only a little less but it's an improvement π that's 3rd 5k & felt ok! What I don't understand is last run of 3.5k was hard going!!!!! & yet today easier!!! This running lark complicatedπππhappy running to everyone this forum the BEST!!x
An unplanned 5k πππ: So chuffed with myself... - Couch to 5K
An unplanned 5k πππ
Congratulations SP on a brilliant run! You're quite right to feel pleased, 20 seconds is a great amount to shave off your last PB. Must have been the thought of chasing that mince pie that made you so quick! π ππππ»ππ»ππΌββοΈππ»ππ»ππ
Well done you!!! 20 seconds sounds like a lot to me!! Love the random route idea, I might try that later!!!
That way you have no idea where the inclines areππa wee bit of reverse psychology I think they say πππI actually enjoy these runs as not boring I'm sure the folk that sees me are thinking I'm madπππespecially when I maybe go up & down same street ππ!! X
Well done! Was it frosty as the other morning I set out thinking I would run 3.5 miles, got to where I should of turned around and felt really good not at all feeling like I was running so thought I would try to do the full loop, low and behold when I got home and checked my Strava I had run 4 miles. The frosty beautiful morning just made me feel so good and made the run so much easier. I've run the 4 since and it's not as easy now, so it must be down to the cold.
It's a strange thing the roads weren't white but 0degs& cars frozen but it was definitely easier than my previous run which was a hard slog!!! As I say running a mystery!! As roads not slippy it was a lovely run & layered so came home real cosyπit was a thought going out as so cold but so glad I did! Again that's down to keeping in touch & reading everyone's posts as it keeps a lone runner"going!! ππππx happy running!
It is strange My PB for park run was done in minus temps. Been a minute slower since it has warmed up again.
Maybe running with additional purpose... to keep warm π
Well done. It's great when everything just feels right like that. Maybe the colder temperatures suit you,
Hooray! Well done! That's brilliant, a personal best too! I gave myself a talking to yesterday after reading everyone's posts and decided to get out. Funnily enough I thought I'd just do 20 minutes but then I kept going - not as far as you, but did 4K. Felt wonderful afterwards just to have shaken away some of the demons! X
Wow, what a brilliant run! Well done, so happy for you. Isn't it lovely when things turn out unexpected and in such nice way. And a PB too! That's put those gremlins back in their box for sure. Keep going RB! xx
Brilliant run! Well doneππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
