So, finally managed to get round to actually doing one of these and have no idea why we didn't do it sooner! Really enjoyed running in a different place with loads of like minded people. All ages and abilities there, and the volunteers were so lovely, saying encouraging things to us just when we needed it (like 'legs are strong and lungs are strong which became our mantra for the last mile). We managed a PB for our 5k's so far of 29.08 but of course when you do one, you want to do it again to see if you can beat it. It appears it may become addictive! Would really encourage anyone thinking about it to go along and give it a try. It's the most enjoyable run I have done since starting C25K all those months ago. And all done before 10 am which feels like an accomplishment.

The laugh is, there was a guy just in front of us after our first lap and he took off towatds the finish. I thought 'that's strange, I wonder why he only does one lap?' Turns out it was his second one and he did the whole thing in 17 mins something - hilarious!

Lol, nope - he was about 6ft 5 though so maybe if we were an extra foot taller we could give him a run for his money!

Well done. Great post. Liked the part about the bloke who ran it in 17 minutes ! I decided to look up records for 5K and Mo Farah does it in 12minutes 53 seconds.

So your 5k under 30 minutes was good. So if you see the 17 minute man again tell him he's not that fast !!

Wow, I love Mo. Will never forget his London Olympics! As for my speedy guy, I don't actually know what he looks like from the front ;-)

Yes silly me ! I should have said "If you can ever catch him" . That's the trouble with us "Slow but sure runners" were always in the dust cloud of those in front !

I bet he's one of those with a T shirt that says "Eat my mud" !!

That is so funny-my running buddy actually commented how dirty he was - obviously when u go that fast it throws up some debris! We still had totally white socks and wondered how he had been so bad - now I know why!
