Best cold weather gear

I really want to keep up this running malarkey but boy is it cold in the mornings! I'd really like to get some warmer clothes to run in as I only have short length joggers and t-shirts. Where do you all recommend? I looked in my local Sports Direct today and they only had vest tops and shorts and some leggings not in my size. I'd love a good jacket and some longer trousers/leggings really. My Aldi rarely has the running gear.

I bought a jacket in the mango sale and it's great, alternatively, check out m&ms for decent labelled and cheap sportswear.

There are base layers in sportsdirect some thermal, there's some jackets, also there's Amazon.Any good running shop should have something..😊

I have got some running leggings and long sleeved tops online, eBay etc. I have tried to not spend too much to start with. My running jacket came from sweatshop in the sale. It is windproof and showerproof with arms that zip off so it can be worn as a Gillet. My double layer running socks were gifts from runners I know.

I have bought several pairs (over a few years) of Karrimor running capris from Amazon. Here are the latest ones I bought. There have some reflective areas on them, too, to help you be seen in the dark, and a pocket in the back for keys, etc. amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01...

I also have a pair of running gloves which are black and fluorescent yellow with reflective bits, and can be used with a smart phone. I bought those from a local running shop which has since gone out of business. My son has running gloves good for use with a smart phone from Costco. They are very affordable from there. They are not jazzed up for running in the dark, though.

M&S have some running clothes. I've only bought a running t-shirt with long sleeves and long cuffs with thumbholes. It would be good for maybe down to 5C, but for colder temps, I'd be wanting something warmer. So far it has been fine. marksandspencer.com/cotton-...

I also have a pair of long cycling trousers from Aldi. They are good for running, too, although I usually only wear them if I haven't washed my capris. My Aldi has quite a lot of cycling gear in right now, so maybe you can find something useful there. They tend to have reflective strips and fluorescent colours for visibility.

I'm afraid the rest of my cold weather running kit I bought in the US on holiday, because even with the rotten exchange rate, it is much more affordable.

I've just seen Lands' End have some capris on sale, one style 50%, the other not quite as much. landsend.co.uk/Womens_Perfo...

Decathlon stuff is good value IF they gave the sizes in!

Layering is the key. Quite expensive but the lightest weight in the Icebreaker merino wool range works really well, washes well etc.

I bought a lovely pair of long running trousers from ASDA! They have a concealed pocket (only big enough for a key really) but great fit and only £10 - wash up really nice too. Really love them - so warm. I run in a thermal long sleeve top which I bought for a holiday to Iceland earlier this year, running socks and running shoes from MandMdirect (also got a pair of shorter cycling shorts that I wore in the warmer weather). Now looking for a running jacket and may ask Santa for a buff

Try Decathlon as they advertise running gear for cold weather. I suppose any relevant specialist outdoor stuff. I use some of my Rohan tops which I have for dog walking! Good luck and let us know how you get on.
