At last 5k ...

Using the follow-on podcasts from Laura I've finally managed to get to 5k a couple fo times this week. Feels good, especially when I reflect on my starting point back in July when I was questioning how I could keep going for 3 minutes!

I recommend the follow-on podcasts. I find it easier to run to the music and ensure the steps taken are in time. For each of these I get to about 4.2km in the 30 mins so I then do a slow jog for 5 mins to get to 5k in +/-35 mins which according to my age grading is about right! Hurrah! Like the C25K podcasts the one I've used now has enough bite to make it feel a challenge. I know I need this to keep me going.

Very well done.. what an achievement...it feels great doesn't it?

Challenges and new ideas keep us motivated, I have done all sorts of sensible and silly things to improve aspects of my running. The main thing is, keep going and enjoy :)

Well done, those podcasts are the business! How does that age grading work? I've seen tables that tell me if I was, ahem, a little younger, my time would be equal to 26 mins or some such, but I've not seen one that tells me what's right for my age...

Hi Curlygurly2 I found this: runnersworld.com/tools/age-.... I confess the first I came across I guess there are others. I had to fiddle a bit but entered my age, then gender, then distance and keeped entering a time until the result calculated as near to 30 mins as I could get it which for me (53/M/5k) was 34'54". So I've been targeting 5k in 35 mins. Hope that helps.

I've looked at it again, in fact I've used it before, but I just don't understand how it tells you what's right.. surely there's no "right"?
