Always a bit worried about keeping myself motivated, I signed up for a charity challenge to run or walk 26.2 miles or 42k in 30 days during September - thought the goal and the fact that I had sponsors would motivate me....
I completed the challenge on Friday having run about 36k and walked another 8k π
Felt really chuffed as that's 44k worth of exercise I wasn't doing back in June before I started this C25K when I was firmly ensconced on the couch
Still finding it tough going and a little worried that post grad and charity run, I will lose my mojo........so, thought I would challenge myself to do a months worth of 3 x 3k runs during October sticking with Laura and W9 podcast.
Looking back on my calendar of runs I have also been quite sporadic and unstructured leaving days between runs and although I have liked that, I think some structure would do me good and increase my stamina at this point (Stepping Stones is a no-no at the moment). So I will aim for Monday, Wednesday and Friday runs work permitting.
That means taking to the roads as the nights are drawing in which is another challenge as I have only run on trails so far - eek!
I know so many take this running lark up and just go from strength to strength but I still struggle so really feel the need to consolidate for a month to see how I do.
Onwards to my October challenge π’ππ

That's fantastic, well done on your marathon! I, too, am still consolidating. I think the process for each of us is what it is. I flew through c25k, got cocky, damaged my leg, aggravated an old back problem and have only just got back into running after a good few weeks - this week I did 2 runs: 1.1m and 1.25m but it felt fantastic to get back to it. I mainly run on trails - apparently pavements are easier π
Well done! It's good to have an event lined up as it is a good way to motivate yourself. If you organise something for spring it will get you off the couch over the winter π
Well done Kate, that's brilliant. And your plan sounds solid. Just keep posting here because you'll then have a record of how you're doing and also we love to see what everyone else is up to π
Hi Kate, we'll done on completing your challenge, ace! As we graduated just weeks apart perhaps we can motivate each other? I have registered for a 10k run in March as a 60th birthday treat. I thought it would give me a challenge. I am looking forward to the bling! What's occurring around your area in spring? πππ»
