BPM?

I was looking at some running music in anticipation of needing it some day.

Some of them give a BPM (beats per minute) per track. Any idea what would be a good speed for someone who has no ambition to go fast?

I don't recognise any of the tracks so will listen to previews later but I thought I would tap into the vast pool of information in this forum.

It depends entirely on you, I'm afraid! What's a comfortable slow pace for me is painfully slow for my daughter - literally. She can't physically keep going at my speed as it hurts her to hold back so much! And I can't sustain her comfortable slow pace for more than a minute or two, as it's far too quick for me. You could always try downloading the Couch to 5k + podcasts, as they do give their bpm. Rather than trying to actually run them properly, you could use them just to find the bpm that works for you.

thanks, in my enthusiasm I have already downloaded the 5k+ podcasts but not listened to them. When I get there I will do as you suggest.

Just run to music you like. Make a playlist of your fave tunes and just get out there. You don't have to match your run speed to the music.

Or If you look on Audiofuel website they have training music based on bpm. This is the stuff provided to c25k so you will be familiar with some of it already. You could treat yourself to one of those. It will describe it as slow half hour or such like ☺

thanks, I did wonder about those and will investigate. But I still have 8 runs to do with Laura. Mustn't get ahead of myself!

Then there's Laura's Stepping Stones podcasts for graduates. Free download from here. They really mix things up tempo wise! They go at all speeds in one session. These are Audio fuel too

As you say, graduate first 😊

Having now graduated I spent some time looking and listening to music to run to.

In the end I have found that the group Running Music on youtube does some mixes for running to. I listen to these when out and about as I find they are good mixture of revamped new and older songs.

The other is Top 100 Platinum Hits: Running Collection 130-160 BPM from Fitness and Music on youtube.

Its just a case of finding what suits you. Despite being in my late 40's I like the Elctro House style of music for jogging. However my actual music taste covers just about every genre just depends on the mood at the time.

The Spotify app has a running section that will calculate your current bpm pace and play music accordingly. You can also manually set a bpm. I've been using it for a while now and love it!
