Hello all,not run for a couple of weeks life just been busy but today had a place in Great Run Newham 2016.

Not the best prep plus had a head cold for the last week.

It was very hot and humid but got to finish inside the Olympic Stadium so had to keep going.

Ran first 4K without a problem but then began to over heat, few walking breaks and with help from the hubby we made it to the end.

Good route round the Olympic park with a few inclines....which took their toll in the heat.

But I made it to the finish line in 1:17:34

Well done Shannie. I was there too. Was very humid indeed and those hills were a killer. Great to get to run in the stadium tho.

Well done, especially in this heat! Pity about the hills...there was me thinking it was probably a fairly flattish route😮 when I wished Paul luck earlier! Er! Obviously not!!😕

I did it too - and overheated at the 4k mark as well. Same thing happened last year and those continuous hills are a killer. With quite a few 10k's under my belt now had hoped to do a lot better but I just can't run in the heat. Finishing in the stadium is brilliant tho' isn't it. Am going back for the athletics and a slide down the orbit next Friday.

I was there too! It was SO hard. I think that first hill was a killer and I also started to take walking breaks from about the 4k mark. Slowest 10k ever for me but I got there in the end and the stadium was terrific. We should all pat ourselves on the back for hanging on in there!

Was only my 2nd 10k,first was the Einter run in rain and drizzle do this was about 10 minutes slower.Next one is Spitfire at Hendon in September so hope to get close to an hour

Well done, I was also there. I also found the heat a bit of a killer and wasn't expecting the hills. 😳 Fun day though. 😃 Pleased to see I wasn't the only one who did it my slowest time ever. ☺️

Ooh how fab to finish in the stadium! That's a very respectable time for hot hills!
