W9R2 Thinking about next steps..

Well I dragged by butt out of bed at 5am this morning to do the penultimate C25K run, it went smoothly although the extra cul-de-sacs I added to my route were still not quite the extra distance I needed for the warm down walk to finish at my house so need to think seriously about using the southern part of my village in future (it's a big hill!) as I have exhausted my original route. Running faster and longer has it's disadvantages too!

I had a dog walker applaud me while running through the park, it was a good feeling if a little bit strange.

I still haven't signed up for the Bournemouth 10k but decided I will before the weekend if there are still spaces, which leads me to the question I have seen on many other graduation-themed posts: What next? I am uncertain about how to train for a longer distance without the security of a voice in the ear telling me what to do!

Hey! I recently graduated and have signed 5 for a 10k in August. I spent a while looking online at programmes designed to take you from 5k to 10k and decided on the Action Aid one. There are a lot out there - just have a browse and pick which one is right for you :)

Hi

Aw the dog walker ha ha ! Your very own cheerleader :-)

I would stick to the running 3 times a week x 30 minutes for a while , just to get your body used to doing that distance . Then maybe try the C25k+ podcasts.

When is the Bournemouth 10k ? xxx

I agree with Poppypug, give the C25K+ podcasts a go. They are free, and they are with Laura again. They are a good follow on from C25K. I graduated C25K in Nov 2014, and I'm still using C25K+ stamina for my 5km weekday runs. For my 23km sunday run I use Audiofuel's PolyRunner tracks, they are a series of 1hr tracks at constant bpm, with a voice coaching, and 5 minute markers, each of the 1 hr tracks is at a different bpm, they start at 160bpm.

I agree with our lovely poppypug .. I used/ use the C25K podcasts and mix with other things. Graduated at Christmas and am running nearly 9 K now,, but I have no intention of a 10 K , so not pushing myself.. the distance sort of crept up.

Loads of advice on the Bridge to 10 K forum and they are a lovely helpful bunch..:) I hang around there and stand in awe! :)
