W2R1 revisited done who is doing the c25k again?

Hello Everybody,

I hope you are all well and keeping on running. I'm re-running the c25k again and just finished w2r1. I'm wondering if anyone else's running the podcast again and at what week are they at?

I'm a lot faster than before but not that much because I have had to change my running route from my little park because there is no light whatsoever and it's pitch darkness to around my block the length is a lot longer and the hills are steeper. I was trying to carry on with w9 running for 30 minutes but since changing route with steeper hill and only managed 10 minutes of the 30 minutes running, I decided to re-start the podcast all over again so that I can conquer those steep hills and longer running distance it seems to be working.

I also found myself more relaxed and not panicky as when I first started the c25k thinking how I am going to run for 90 seconds no way. I'm still not counting my distant or speed I will do when I finish this whole podcast again for me it's about running and stay fit, I'm feeling as if the second time round is actually the beginning of my journey.

  • Good idea, especially as you're incorporating hills. I might yet do the same thing - I'm struggling with a re-activated back problem at the moment (serves me right for trying to do to much), but will see how I go. Enjoy.

  • Hi Polly, thanks for your reply and I hope you are feeling much better with your back when one has back problem it's no joke. I think you would benefit of re-starting the podcast and just go at your own pace and as many others have said before including lovely Laura go slow as slow as possible at your own pace.

  • Hi! I have just started C25K again with the lovely Laura after a couple of months out having had a major chest infection, a resurgence of my asthma and the black hole of depression opening up and swallowing me. I am finding it less daunting than before (did W1R2 yesterday) and instead of thinking 'I can't do this, what on earth am I thinking. I'm 53 and overweight, people will stare and point' I am thinking 'Wow, I have missed this, I can't wait to get to the longer runs'. I am taking it slowly so I can work out a good regime for using my inhaler that works for my new level of asthmaticness (I know that's not a real word!) and for the first time in a long time feeling optimistic about something πŸ˜€. Good luck with the program and keep on running πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

  • Hi Bundoodle, Glad to hear you are doing the c25k again. Sorry to hear that you have not been very well and great that you are now on the mend with both your asthma and depression it is great you are running again well done you.

    Like you I had a major chest infection where the ambulance had to be called and was rushed to hospital, I caught a nasty virus it came without warning and I suddenly felt very ill and fighting for breath. I have mild asthma but can get pretty bad if I have a cold and it always turned into a chest cold and send my asthma up the scale. I now have a home asthma nebuliser which is brilliant any feeling of tight chest and wheezing that my inhaler don't solve, I just plug the machine on and within ten minutes I can go for a run.

    Like you I found the podcast less daunting second time round because I know what's coming and yes I've said to myself come on you've been through it before and you have no excuse to push a little harder. lol

    I too I'm 53 and I'm 6 stone overweight I'm hoping this time round doing the podcast make me lose some weight the first time round for me was just to actually able to run the second time it's like a beginning for me that I can just run and keep on running.

    Me too cannot wait for the longer runs. My young son is doing the podcast also too and at w7, he is now enjoying the podcast it was about week 7 that I got into proper running and actually enjoyed Laura's music.

  • I have started again after knee pain and now about to finish W6R3 I don't feel any pressure to rush as I have already done it once and am actually enjoying it more this time round

    Thanks for your reply and glad your knee is on the mend and that you are enjoying your running again. Agree second time round does make a big difference and more enjoyable, I'm even enjoying Laura's music. The first time round I couldn't stand her music it was really annoying for some reasons it doesn't bother me at all now.

    I think I was trying to run too fast and her musics I found was making me running slower but I soon found out it's deliberate to make us run at a slow pace so that we can build up the running for longer time intervals.

  • I have just started c25k but have not ran for 5 years, and being 70 have decided to do the programme over 18 weeks, so I think you are doing the right thing myself,

    Thanks for your reply that's just great, you will enjoy the c25k it's a brilliant podcast I would recommend to anyone. You can run at your own pace and as slow as you want, Laura is a great trainer and motivator she tells you what to do and not to do.
