Is it time to re-start.....?

So I have not been running for about 10 days now, having rested the ankle which having discussed with my medical colleagues think is a bit of tendonitis, so have been stretching and resting doing all the things I was told too.😴

Visited the local running store and have bought an ankle support to wear when I go out.... So far this week no pain on walking about so am thinking its time to to restart.

Planning on restarting week 7 and see how I get on...I'm itching to get back to it..... So hoping that I can get back in the swing of things and back into my usual routine.

Whilst in the shop today they were trying to convince me to join the running club... But at present I'm still too embarrassed to run with others. I was also advised to check my stride, and was asked what my pace was (was another word used, but for life or me can't remember what she said) 🤔and was I over-striding, suggested shortening my stride and upping pace slightly. Suggested trying to find an app to help with this - anyone got any ideas, I use a Fitbit and obviously the lovely Laura but neither do the steps per minute.

Anyway wish me luck as I head back into the world of C25K and I hope that no other joint decides to play up otherwise I may have to rethink my exercise plan.😱

Hope everyone else has had a good couple of weeks..... 😊

Wishing you all the best just take your time and go slowly and surely you'll finish week 7. I've had 3 days off because of bad weather and chest cold which is an extra day from my usual 2 days break and will start W7 tomorrow. Stick with Laura you've get to graduation.

Take care. :) xx

Thanks J - sorry to hear you've been poorly - I am definitely going to take it slow and steady - I will graduate even if it takes a bit longer ! 😊

Good luck tomorrow X

Cadence is steps per minute. If you have a smart phone this is something that Runkeeper can tell you, but only at the end of the run. Over striding is stepping out too far ahead and is a common cause of injury. That is why they are suggesting smaller more frequent steps - not that you necessarily run faster overall - in fact we always advocate the slower the better.

Good luck with your return to the programme - it will be well worth concentrating on your running style.

Thanks ullyrunner I am going to try and do smaller steps - certainly not going to go faster don't think I can! Or want to I just want to be able to do 30 mins 3 times a week without injury! 😬

Hope the run goes well and the ankle trouble is at an end. You could keep the running club in mind for after graduation. No harm in checking it out.
