I think I may be becoming obsessed with this running lark! Since my troubled knee I have researched it to death, rested, stretched, changed walking shoes, daily manoeuvres etc in an attempt to get to w6r2 my next run. I think I have Patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner's knee). I know dangerous to self diagnose, so I prepared for today's run with military precision.
Lots of sleep, no alcohol last night, porridge fuelled, strapped knee with strange running tape, stretched and discussed it some more with youngest. My knees were ok today, rested 3 days, toyed with long brisk walk outside with the dogs, decided to go to the treadmill dressed in gear, (that's a good trick I learnt on here) and just walk and run a bit to my music-no pressure. Then I read what w6r2 entailed and thought well I could always start with Laura and cut my losses if I really hurt..
So I slowed first walk right down and went for longer (maybe a bit of nerves there). Then I ran really slowly, really concentrating on posture, advice said imagine you are towing a sledge round the waist.(runners world.co.uk) Took careful, non bouncy steps and stuff twinged a bit, but by 4 mins I was more positive. Mentally exhausted tho, more than physical, as I concentrated all the time on posture, legs etc even the last but one song saying something about it being easy?!? Even to the final walk wasn't taking anything for granted.
Yep legs bit twingy but I feel sooo much happier and relieved and I know I would not be here but for all your lovely support, I would definitely have stopped. May repeat this on Wednesday but will play it by ear. Onwards 😉
