Took a run on the wild side...

I decided at last to take a run on the footpaths, bridlepaths and common near my home instead of just pavement running. Its a route I have walked many times with my dog, which can be muddy and overgrown and I was worried I might twist an ankle on the uneven ground.

I took Laura and Stamina with me and set off, excited by the prospect of a new experience...

I discovered uneven ground is fine..cos your moving along and feet only touch the ground for a moment.😊

I discovered that stinging nettles do go through your leggings... 😐 but you don't reallt notice cos your running.

I discovered that if I do have to walk for a sec cos I can't see where im putting my feet, I CAN start running again. (A worry I have had since Week 6)😊

I discovered a new route is fun and takes your mind off your running. 😊

I think I will do this wild thing again...

That's great Jan-now-runs, very envious. I would like to run some of the footpaths I take the dog but like you worry about the uneven ground and overgrown vegetation. Maybe once I have graduated and I have sometime, I'll give it a go.πŸ˜€

Yes. Definately wait til after graduating and being able to run for 30 mins regularly.😊

The flat surface of pavement is much easier to run on, as softer ground does absorb your footfall more and make you a bit heavier footed.

Probably best to do these paths before the nettles and weeds have grown too much too.😯 ouch.

Keep going jt you will graduate soon.x

I do it all the time and prefer it to running on pavements. I invested in a pair of trail shoes for when wet and muddy

Good idea Nick... an excuse for new running shoes.hmmm.😊

Its lovely to be in the countryside properly isn't it. One minute your in a lane, then a field edge, then a wood. Sidestepping muddy patches and jumping fallen branches.. exhilarating. 😊

I too love running on tracks and in the woods especially on warmer days as the trees give great shade, i have 6 routes that I love and every time I go out I do a different one, makes the run more interesting and I feel Im pushing myself a little bit harder because its not the same route every time, some have uneven ground, some have road and trail and half have hills (yes i said hills) and because of the change in running lengths I never know where on the route the hills are going to hit, last time I completed the programme, i kept to the same route which was mainly downhill and think that is why I didn't enjoy it as much. Keep up the good work and Nick_Buddha_12 how do trail shoes work if you have to partially run on road to get to trails?

Thank you Clawmum😊. It is great to be in the proper countryside and in your bright flourescent running gear you feel like a superbeing just passing through... (in my imagination maybe lol)...πŸ˜ƒ

I only have trail shoes and happily wear them for road and trail with no trouble, I think road shoes may be more cushioned and trail have better grip but mine are comfy for both .
