I'm a 71 yearold newbie to running and the forum on week3 of c25k

I am a 71year old nana and in August2014 I had a heart attack and wow ! I dont believe it I have just completed run2 of week three and oh boy were my knees hurting when I got home.Did a few stretches followed by a nice warm shower result!! pain is gone.doing strength &flexibility tomorrow so hope I will be OK for my run on Thursday. When I tried the first run I only managed 30seconds so I walked for 10mins before trying again so week one took me 4 sessions to complete it. I am loving it I have more energy and I have lost 3lbs. So if I can do it don't doubt yourself just give it a try.good luck everyone what ever your goals are you can do it if you believe in yourself

I was talking to my mum about running and she said "am I passed it though?", she is 58! I will share this post with her so she can see age is not a limiting factor. Well done for having the balls to get out there ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

I'm 67 tell your mum your never too old to try something new and the c25k is a safe way to start , I do three runs a week And average about 15k from some one who didn't run and thought they were a bit old to start jogging I've done ok started Jan 16

I started when I was 63. I was not overweight and quite active, but it still wasn't easy and it took me 7 months to complete the programme. My advice (from experience and the helpful people on this forum) is take it very slowly. If your aim is to get fit and maintain that fitness you are going to be walking/running 30 minutes 2 or 3 times a week forever! So no rush, and enjoy it.

Well done to you for starting C25K, never let any one tell you that you are too old to start running.

I was 73 when I started C25K in late February and have just completed my 5th Parkrun.

Follow the programme and take it nice and slow don't be tempted to go for speed that will come later.

Good for you!!!! I started C25K about 2&1/2 years ago at age 67 - I turn 70 this November. I had never run in my life - and when I had tried, I couldn't !! :) I am now training for my second Half marathon and have run over 2000 klms in the past couple of years. I have now done 64 parkruns. I do a lot of run/walk - especially for long distances and I am currently playing around with a new running watch Garmin 220) which has a heart rate monitor and allows me to run between two set HR numbers ( gives me a warning beep if I go too high and gives me another warning beep to start running again if my HR goes too low) :) There is more to this running lark than just running! :) - anything that keeps the motivation and interest going is good!! I am now intending to run/jog/walk every day for the rest of my life

Good morning all, just going out in the igarden to do my strength & flexibility stint. The old knees are fine this morning (so far!) My name camme about because Paula the owner of the ladies gym I go to called me 'a little gymbunny (I'm only 5') and when I told my grandson's they said yes Nana you are our gymbunny Nana. Thank you for your support.

well done and congratulations. great effort. i am 67 and 6 years ago had a heart attack. this year to date i have ran 860 kms as part of mapmyrun you versus the year challenge. i am also in the british heart foundations '' run a marathon in the month of may''. so take my word for it it can be done and the fact you have started is the main thing, well done and keep going, it may be sore but well worth it. once again well done.
