What's happening with Little Stoke parkrun??

I was following this saga as it unfolded mid-April - but then went away on 2 weeks holiday.  This morning, something rekindled my memory of what happened so I had a look at the Little Stoke parkrun results - only to see that, apart from the one weekend mid April when it was cancelled , there are results up for the past 3 weeks.  I can't find anywhere in news or Facebook whereby all has been forgiven - so what has happened there over the past 3 weeks or so????

think they have until later this month to come to some decision>however judging by the reaction to the silly decision by the council they may have to back down and keep parkrun free

Thanks for bringing this up Bazza, I am interested. Actually I think everyone would probably be interested. If one shire starts to charge for runners it may carry on further around the globe, next will be the walkers, then the dogs, then children and before you know it parks will disappear due to lack of use.  I know, I know, I am over the top......

You are not over the top at all, who would have thought that free libraries would one day disappear ? which they are now rapidly doing

Hiya. I live in the Bristol area, and everyone is still up in arms. The council are still intent on charging in a few weeks, so the final run there is due soon.

Emotions are high and we'd still like to think the council will change it's mind, but it's not looking likely. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Luckily other local Parkrun have given assurances that they have no plans to follow suit. Which is good 😀

I'm a new Parkrun runner and love it - what an amazing idea.

Right, we've got the Bristol 10k this weekend, looking forward to that.

OK - now I get it. That cancellation a few weeks ago was just a one- off for safety reasons.

I live in Northampton UK and our council responded by stating that Parkrun will continue to be a free and inclusive community run.

Good to hear.  We have just got our 165th parkrun site here in Australia.
