I have read mixed reviews of using insoles.  If I had a sore knee after a longer run I would try a 2 day rest to see how it responds.  If it improves, I would think about running on soft ground for a couple of weeks, grass is ideal.  I have had the same problem myself and found some small changes help.  The other thing that was helpful was doing strength and flex exercises every day, I am now able to run up to 15km now but still find combining running on grass with some hard surfaces allows me to work my legs but reduce impact.  I think I have read, wearing new trainers or using insoles could cause injury as it adjusts how you run, so I would try other ways before making major changes

Putting insoles into a running show is a major change!  It adjusts the angle of the foot in the show - do u mean the gel insoles?

I have a pair of £7 Dunlop gel insoles in my Mizunos, that I got from Sports Direct. I cannot praise them highly enough -they were especially good when I first returned to running after knee trouble, because they act as lovely shock absorbers, cushioning every footfall. As you can see I'm very enthusiastic about them, hence the hyperbole! ;)

Forgot to post this back.. bearing in mind the advice of the others.. i have the Sorbothane insoles in my running shoes, and find them brilliant.. Got them off Amazon. I got mine initially because I felt, I landed heavily... they worked fine.

My knee issue  a while ago, was caused by the new Tigger shoes.. so i am back in the old faithfuls with the insoles, and everything is fine.. touch wood :)
