Why am I so phone dependant!

I annoyed myself by having to wait half an hour to run last night because my phone wasn't charged enough, I was going to run the exact route I ran two days before and had a watch I could use for timing but somehow it seems like the run won't count if its not logged and tracked by my phone. The logical part of me knows its the run that counts, not what my phone says but I still couldn't bring myself to run without it!

Must confess that I'm a bit the same with my Garmin. I don't always look at it but like to know that I'll have the stats afterwards.

I'm phone dependant too but mainly for security/injury purposes.

Why not try a short run one day without it & see how you go?

In the end though if the stats & tracking are important to you then don't worry about it (& just try to check battery levels a bit earlier! 😊)

I don't look at while I'm running, just like to have 'evidence'! I have a Garmin watch on my wish list and if I get one I would happily leave the phone behind, funnily enough I don't feel I need it for any actual important reason like safety or in case of emergency which would probably be more sensible!

Ha ha, yes! Most of us I think are reliant on a phone nowdays, I usually always have it with me in the pocket out on a run on my own in case a problem arises,  but use a Garmin sports watch to record my run data, and find it brilliant, just try and remember to charge it in time!😀

I'm just a week post-grad and if anything my reliance on my phone tech' recording is probably getting worse! I use Endomondo and the week 9 podcast still to keep me going. I like to know my pace at the start and tweak accordingly and I do check time and distance still along the way. For me, part of it is probably because I still can't actually believe 'I'm doing it'! The phone provides evidence!

I don't actually know what endomondo is! Off to google now!

I use an old Blackberry phone, it's the only free running app that seemed to work telling me pace and km splits etc. lol! Hopefully getting a newer android one later so will have to see what they have to offer!

I have downloaded it now! I use a windows phone and an app called myrun to do c25k, it times the runs and gives me a map of my route, distance and average speed but endomondo looks really good, I have never looked at splits, mostly just happy to complete but in another week after graduation I'll have to start looking at pace etc. So thanks, I now have another app and that will nicely reinforce my phone dependency!

and it has a windows version which has been a sticking point with many apps, both apple and android have lots that are not compatible with windows and I like my cheap Nokia and have no intention of upgrading it!
