After graduating 4 weeks ago and covering about 3.8k, I have persevered and tonight made it to 5k and am really, really pleased! It definitely wasn't in 30 mins (it was 39 mins) but I have realised that if I try to run it faster I can't breathe and I don't enjoy it so I have taken all the advice from this forum and slowed down to a manageable pace. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you because it's mainly due to your great posts that I read every day that I have had the belief that I can do this. This is a brilliant community of inspirational people indeed x
Made it to 5k :): After graduating 4 weeks ago... - Couch to 5K
Made it to 5k :)
Well done! That first 5k is really special Good for you x
Well done
I plodded a sneaky one last week in week 8, 41m14s.
Under 40 mins is a great time for a first one, well done
That's great in wk 8! Well done to you
It was a one-off crazy pixie moment! Felt right so I went for it
Great to hear of your progress, I'm a little apprehensive about being out there post-grad without the structure!
It's ok actually - I did worry about not having Laura's encouragement at first, but I just stick on a playlist and use the Runtastic app that tells me each 1k split and pace etc and that seems to do the job. Coming on here and getting lots of motivation really helps by reading everyone's progress mainly.
Well done!
Don't worry about speed; it will gradually come by itself if you keep running the distance.
Nope, I won't worry about speed any more
Running for 5km is not easy at any speed, I still find it a challenge! C25K is designed to teach us to find a speed that allows us to complete a timed run and you still need to listen to ur body now. Running too fast, gasping for breath and getting an injury seems pointless. Trust yourself, great run. Now you know you can do 5k, u can do it again when u r ready
