First go at volunteering this morning. Really enjoyed it despite the wind and occasional shower. Lots of positives responses from the runners and thankfully no incidents with other park users - I was marshalling at a blind corner. Looking forward to volunteering again (probably in the summer months) and hoping to have a go at another role.
Parkrun volunteering: First go at volunteering... - Couch to 5K
Parkrun volunteering
Well done , I have just completed my forth ParkRun marshalling whilst i do c25k, only 3 weeks to first run.
Hi I've volunteered twice so far this year, and have learnt so much more about the event and the people taking part. Its a really enjoyable way to get a new perspective on Parkrun !
Well done, I did parkrun this morning so really appreciate how well organised it is but that it's only possible because folk are prepared to volunteer
I have volunteered 18 times (only 7 to go to get the T-shirt lol), and find the experience so uplifting. When I run the Parkrun I usually find myself amidst the same group of runners every week, similar times, so I never get to see other Parkrunners or to get to know the scale of the event.
By volunteering you get to see every runner?walker/jogger from first to last, all doing their best, all completing a 5K on a Saturday morning, regardless of age, size, fitness level etc. Really buoys me up to see them all fly past me, whilst I shout words of encouragement.
I also like to see Parkrun as a social event. A lot of people go there, run, and don't speak to anyone before they leave. I like to chat, break the ice, share the common bond (running).
Happy Easter Folks, BTW Chocolate has very special scientific molecular characteristics, on Easter Sunday all its calories miraculously vanish!! Enjoy
