Thought a few of you might be interested in this, shown last night on BBC2.

Featuring great views of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park it compares a fitness phone app with a Fitbit tracker and a TomTom Multisport Cardio GPS watch.

What's not to like? :-)

I watched this and was surprised at the variances in steps/distance etc. Ultimately, the consumer needs to decide what they need to know and what budget they have to spend on said item. Companies are constantly releasing new models, for example FitBit are releasing another new smart fitness watch 'Blaze' in March this year.

Definitely worth a watch if you have the time. :o)

Indeed. I was a little surprised that the worst GPS was the watch. I have the same model and I'm aware that it can underestimate distance by as much as 2.5%.

But yes everyone needs to buy whatever suits them best for their budget.

Thanks for this! Will give it a watch :)

Thank you for this - I have watched it and would not now invest money in buying any of them! 30 minutes a day of exercise that will make my heart work harder than laid on the sofa is a good start for me.... ha ha
