Follow the C25k plan and forget about running fast. You can do it.
Follow the pod casts, listen to Laura. Feel the difference in your body and go for it, you won't regret it.
Yup, listen to Laura and just keep plodding away. We all remember week 1 and how hard it was. You can do it.
Thank you I will re start and push past it. X
The podcasts are free and easy to download and the programme is designed for people who want to go from being non runners to be able to run for 30 minutes over 9 weeks. Many of us have successfully done that so it works. Keep coming on to the Forum too, we always love to encourage new runners and can remember how hard it was. Well done for testing yourself by running past the lamp posts.
Look forward to hearing all about it in the New Year. Julie
Thank you Julie I would start now but had a angiogram weds so I can't I've down loaded couch to 5 k so I'm on it. Xx
An angiogram. Is that a test to see how ur heart is working? When do you think u will get the results? I am 52 and very inactive most of my life. I lost weight through calorie counting and started with some walking which I think helped me to prepare for running. The programme starts with short runs and there is no reason why weeks can't be repeated u til you feel comfortable. Hope you get the all clear to start in January
Yes it is I got the results straight after all good but the groin is very painful at moment so I just decided that's it new year get fit lose weight well done you on starting to run too ☺️☺️
Great news that your heart is strong. Good idea to start in the New Year, so much foodie temptation is coming our way. I found a great App which is free and it helps me count my calories - My Fitness Pal. There is also a great Forum there too if you want to check it out. Hope the groin injury gets better very soon. Could you try some stretching exercises to get your body moving, that helps me so much between running. Julie
Give the groin area a gentle stretch, there are pinned posts on the right hand side, that shows how to run & stretch properly, just have a limberup and your 5min brisk walk at the start, listen to Laura and run very slowly, usually only stretch well after your runs when the bodies warmed up.
You will probably get little niggles from muscles & joints, as long as it's nothing too painful, just have a massage & stretch and carry on. Oh and ignore those little gremlins that pop-up in your head sometimes and say you can't do this or this is too tough, you can! And you will!
Good luck!
C25k will get you there. Just do it! Come on! We're with you Why wait til January???????? The weather now is so balmy. Perfect running conditions.
Try to stop counting lampposts or use a different route - you are probably already thinking to yourself 'oh, this is where I usually have to stop'!
Just trust Laura to take you through. Keep it nice and slow.
Good luck!
Let your groin heal after the angiogram, it won't hurt to wait another week or two, when you do start just trust the program, none of us would have imagined where it would take us when we started !
Started back but earlier the lamp posts are a couple more now. Dread going but enjoy once I'm out went and got feet gated and got nice proper running trainers going to use them in a bout 10 mins ☺️☺️ X
