Well check me out. Woke up at 7.30 and first thing I thought about was how nice the weather was (drizzly) for a run. So off I went, chugging along. Felt pretty good until overtaken by a guy running like his heels on fire, leaving me plodding in his glorious wake. Felt temporarily inadequate, then reminded self that:
A) am out at 7.45 on a wet Saturday- never happened before
B) am 54 ...old enough to be his mother
C) bet he didn't have a dodgy back
feeling better, ploughed on. New route, several long and persistent inclines I have never noticed before. Rather too much traffic - busy A4 - prefer the P&Q of country roads Thank goodness the drizzle nice and cool on red face. Decided to push on again to 35 minutes- because I wanted to finish on a high. And I did! Back home with frizzy hair.
Checked route obsessively on mapometer At home; 5.15 km in 35 minutes... seems alright - but I don't know really. HOWEVER, not that many weeks ago would be gasping for a paramedic so its all good!
