Back in the summer when i started couch to 5k i didnt imagine that i would be doing the Great South Run again so quickly I last ran it in 2007 When i was a lot younger and fitter. Since then i had returned to smoking, done little exercise and was generally pretty unfit. Thanks to Aliboo i was persuaded to take up running again and we made a deal that we would do the GSR together one day, but weren't planning on it being this quick. Had a great day with Ali, Boz, Frank and Wristy as the C25K team. (See ali's post for pre-race photo) . Think we will all be back next year so hopefully some more C25Kers can make it and we can have a bigger team photo next year. What a great event, would recommend it to all of you. Next stop on the C25K road trip is the Great Manchester Run in May so if anyone can make it would be great to see you. It's a 10K flat race. Poppypug will be there too! Happy running everyone!
Great South Run.: Back in the summer when i... - Couch to 5K
Great South Run.
Well done Paul !
I didnt realise you had done it before , but then I remembered Ali writing that you had done a quite a few races in the past . Sounds like you all had a really enjoyable day and race and meeting others from this lovely place mustve been the icing on the cake ! :-).
The adrenalin just gets you through doesnt it ? Plus all the people in fancy dress , and all the people running for various charities , its an amazing event isnt it ?
Yes I will definitely be there in May. I havent entered yet am going to do it next pay day. I keep saying that but then things crop up and I use the money for something else , but I am going to make it a priority for next time I get paid.
It will be great to see you , Ali and Boz. Jammo's doing it , so is Vix and hopefully Runon will sign up again. It would be fab if Frank could make it too, although it is a bit of a trek with him being so far away
The more the merrier !
Brilliant write up , its fab isnt it this runnning lark.It really gets under your skin doesnt it ? xxx
Yes poppy, the whole day from meeting the other C25K runners, the crowds, the atmosphere and the great feeling when you finish. Even the aching legs all make the event so memorable.
Thats excellent about May. So many others coming already as well. Good idea, i'm going to enter next week too. Beat to make sure we get a place. Frank lives about 20 miles away from me, ali and boz on North Island, as we Isle of Wighters refer to England . If he's free maybe we can all travel together so that might save a bit of money too.
I'm totally addicted now. Will be back off out at 6 a.m. wednesday. Think my legs need another days rest haha! xx
Well done Paul - what a return to form! Great pic..and the group one too!
Thanks Sandra, loved it, definitely feel a lot better for all this running too . Maybe we'll see you in one of the group photos in the near future too
Haha! Think it could be quite some time before I'm at that level! But I am starting to entertain the notion that a 10k could be lurking inside me somewhere...let's see what 2016 brings eh?๐
Great post Paul, Manchester Great run sounds more and more inviting. Must get my finger out and arrange to go.
Well done, and glad to see your post! Huzzah for Aliboo booting you towards your trainers again, too! Hmm. Manchester. That's Mfam's family territory, and it could be a good opportunity to catch up with the cousins, meet up with C25Kers AND get a run in. I'll think about this one.
great achievement in such a short space of time - in awe
when in May is the Manchester one? too far for me for me to run but I only live half hour away some could come and cheer you on
Hi Jeley, whereabouts are you ? Im in the Manc area too ! xxx
Nah sorry, quite happy with my 30 mins or 5k 3times a week. No desire to run for any longer, I can cheer loudly tho!
I'm in Warrington Poppy
