I have now experienced the bane of runners everywhere: the fugly run. Went out expecting to run one more 5k prior to my race on Saturday and ended up running only 20 minutes and 1.49 miles. Ugh. It was like being back in week 5 again. To be fair, I should have probably realized that after working 14 hours yesterday, getting dehydrated, and running outside in hot weather was probably mot a good idea. Around about the 20 minute mark, I was overheated, sweaty, and bright red. I did a self evaluation and realized that this didn't just feel like gremlins. Judging by the fact that I bolted a bottle and a half of water after getting home it was probably a good thing to quit when I did. Lesson learned. I am over-hydrating on Saturday before the race. Phew. Here's hoping I have more to energy and stamina on Saturday.

Urgh, I hate a fugly run I've had a few recently. I also have a 5k event on Saturday. I'm going out for a gentle stretch of my legs tmrw, maybe a 20 minute slow jog and then I wait until Saturday! Good luck with yours

All the best for a great run on Saturday. Important to learn the hydration lesson before the race rather than during!

It happens to us all. I only managed 2.5km last Saturday chiefly due to be a tad hungover!
