First Half Marathon with IT Band Syndrome

As some of you know I was diagnosed with IT Band Syndrome back in July and have been working with my knee doc since then. I ran my first 1/2 marathon yesterday with disappointing results. My knee started falling apart after the 4th mile and just continued to get worse every mile after that. Around the 8th mile I had to walk/jog a bit until I was able to fully jog agin, slowly until the end. I did finish it though.

Take it easy and don't push too hard too soon. There are more races to go to in future. Well done for getting to the 8 mile point before starting to walk. On the HM I did yesterday there were people who must have claimed they could run an HM in well under 2 hours (to get the start position they did) who were walking within 2 miles of the start.

Thanks for the advice. Luckiily for me, the rest of my races for this season are 5 miles or less. I'm definitely going to be scaling back my training for now.
