Week 1 Day 2 done

Did Week 1 Day 2 on treadmill.

A quick question for the veterans. I have a 5K obstacle race this Sunday and a half marathon in 5 weeks.

I intend to walk in both cases. I have walked half marathons before.

My question is that what impact will this have on my C25K training?

Cheers,

Ash.

I probably wouldn't choose to run the day or two after a half marathon, and depending what the obstacles were I'd probably need a couple rest days after that as well. I usually give a two day rest after a race or intensive/long session of exercise.

I'd look at them as good cross training and not worry about it a bit. It might set your 'weeks' back a couple days but there is certainly no harm in that.

I'd treat them both as cross-training rather than trying to work out what amount of running they could be equivalated to.

By week 6, you'll be running 20+ minutes at a time and might even want to run part of the way round your HM.

Thanks guys. I will adjust my C25K training accordingly.

I am not an expert but I would say the walking will not impact on your week 1, 2, 3 or 4. However depending on the type of obstacles you may just want to have a day rest after this race. Good on you for getting into it.
