Help -garmin

So have been looking at some of the gadgets to use and come across the Garmin Forerunner 10.

Anyone had one of these? It is a little more affordable than some of the others but if it's not much use, then is a bit of a false economy.

Ideas, suggestions, advice et al much welcomed

I've got one. It is the most basic model but it's been really good. Gives me all the info I need.

look at the fr 15 as well. Does everything the fr10 does plus steps and sleeo monitoring, and you can get a heart rate monitor if that's any use.

I have one too, so far it's been great. It also gives me everything I need, but you do need access to a PC to be able to download your activities. (Appreciate some people only have tablets / ipads these days)

Glad you said that Noaky as I don't have a pc, just tablets. I really just want it to measure how far I've run and pace etc. is it OK for that? Sorry, techy stuff just isn't my forte LOL

Yes it'll do that ok on just the watch. It tells you distance, pace & splits/per lap. It'll also tell you when you get a new PB.

If you look back my posts for the new PB one you'll see one of the views you get on the watch. ☺

The Forerunner 10 is a great basic device. If you want heart rate info you will need to go for a slitly higher model. As you don't have a computer you won't be able to download your stats (I write mine in a log anyway - as well as downloading). The higher models will connect by wifi/blue tooth. I think for what you want it for the 10 will do fine - I love(d) mine. Just upgraded to a 220 which means I can read it on the go as the screen is a bit bigger.

I'm well confused, if you can't read it when you're running how do you know how far you've run.

Sorry if a bit dim. I'm new to all this 😨

Depends on your sight, I've got a forerunner 10 and can see the screen perfectly well but then again there's nothing wrong with my close vision just my distance :S There's nothing extra on the other watches I'd use (cadence being one of them) the 10 gives you splits, time, distance and you can also set a pace to run at if you so wish and it'll beep if you go too fast/slow. I love mine but like someone else said you need a pc to plug it in, it's not Bluetooth compatible, it needs a USB slot which it connects to via a cable.

I have the 10 and it's the biz tho I'm ok for close vision too! I don't upload any data - I have an ancient Mac and it's not compatible. I write everything down in a diary which suits me fine.

I have a fore runner 10 and I love it. Only issue I find is that sometimes it can take a while to connect to gps but other than that's it's cool.

When I got.mine a few weeks ago, I was told it's tradition to name them. If you get one you'll have to tell us what you've named it. Mines called Forest.. X

Thank you all for your comments. I have ordered one!!! Bad girl, this running is fuelling my shopping habit 😀

Apparently, I have to post a picture so look out for Mabel in a couple of days 😀😀

I have a forerunner 10 it's very easy to use. I have no problem reading the screen. It can take time finding gps but I did read that keeping it still will make it quicker. I normally turn it on as I am putting my shoes on and leave it near the door and by the time I'm ready it's found connection.

The Garmin connect website is very slow, could be my PC! but it does give lots of info about my run. I do charge it using a cheap USB plug I bought. I think I will get a diary to write my runs down.

When I'm running I look how far I have run and try and guess where I will be when the next kilometre is -it keeps me going!!

Good luck
