I kept to slow and steady, (as opposed to my usual slow and unsteady) and treated the last run as a victory lap. On my way I even overtook someone walking and a dog ( a tiny yorkie but they all count don't they?). I managed almost 3.5km in the 30 mins which I know is slow but as an asthmatic, overweight woman who was paralysed and in intensive care 12 years ago I'm pretty happy with that.
Thank you so much to everyone on here for all the encouragement and support. I don't think I'd have managed it without you all.
Off to a little family get together this afternoon to eat the above chocolate cake. They have no idea I've been doing this so I might take the opportunity to share and see what they think.
Off to see if my badge is ready. Happy running everyone.

That is amazing!!! What a fantastic story. Well done to you for getting out there and completing it. Enjoy that cake - it looks delicious!!! Your family will be blown away by your achievement!
Wow well done. Your family are going to be so proud of you and so they should. But most of all you should be very proud of yourself. Enjoy your cake you certainly deserve it.
An amazing achievement - it's fantastic stories like yours that keeps the likes of me going! Enjoy that cake and basking in the praise your family are bound to give you - it is something to be truly proud of!!
Thanks everyone. I have to admit that my family were far more impressed by the cake than the running but I expected that! My brother and sister in law were pleased for me and very surprised and my brother was mostly interested in shoes/gait analysis (he's a techy type).
Anyway, a successful day all round and there's even a little bit of cake left for tomorrow.
Looking forward to getting to 5k next and maybe even entering a race....
