Is there such a thing as too slow, I have just finished W6r2 and my running partner tonight did his run and then walked with me whilst I finished mine and we were nearly doing the same pace.
What is too slow: Is there such a thing as too... - Couch to 5K
What is too slow
Don't think there is anything as too slow... I used to be overtaken by walkers all the time and be sitting around 12.5 mins a km. So no way near 5 km in 30 minutes.
But I have been using a 5k to 10k app now and have just naturally gotten faster as my fitness got better... around 9.5 mins a km and improving.
Don't worry about speed... more important just to keep going...
There is def no such thing as too slow. The key thong is you're out there and doing it. You will naturally find your comfortable pace for the programme & when you graduate you can start thinking about improving your speed - but - only if thats what you want to do.
Enjoy it!!! ☺
*thing not thong lol!!! 😶
Ha ha ! That made me chuckle xxx
Mind you, a guy did one of our local 5Ks in a mankini Poppy, and that was definitely a case of a "thing in a thong" xx
Not at all, everyone runs at different speeds. I just asked this same question a few days ago. A slow km is the same distance as a fast km and even better than big fat zero km on the couch!!!! Xxx
Your pace is the right pace, whatever it is. Focus on elapsed time.
thanks everyone
Listen to everyone, there is no such thing as too slow it's a mental attitude type of thing and it will make running more enjoyable if you embrace your speed whatever it is. I am a slow runner but I wouldn't trade my time out running for anything. I enjoy being out there and if I get passed so what, I'm doing it for me not them. Happy running.
I don't have a lot to share, I'm a slow one, I jog/run at 4.3mph (give or take a bit), but I feel the same is @realfoodie, I just enjoy being out there I love the peace I get from it and the buzz I get afterwards. I'd like to get faster at some point, but for now just completing each week and each run within that week is a massive thing for me. If you push too fast now, you will only end up hurting yourself and end up on the injury couch or just as bad, you may end up not at all enjoying it!
give yourself a break and a pat on the back for just being apart of a great program
More important at this stage to keep going...you can work on speed later
As long you feel you are running that's fine. I had a similar experience when my daughter came with me but decided just to focus on my running not her walking. Keep going, you can do it at the pace that suits you🏃
