In the ballot!

Hi All

Is everyone enjoying their running this long weekend? I went out for my intervals in the pouring rain yesterday while today (a non-running day, natch) the sun's out!

Anyway, as the title says, I've applied for a ballot place for next year's London Marathon so fingers crossed - I'll certainly be raiding the Couch to 5k "hive mind" for plenty of advice and support if that comes off.

I have one other bit of news - I hope this comes across as "friendly inspiration from a fellow runner" and not smug boasting but I was pleased and somewhat surprised yesterday to discover I've lost the better part of FOUR stone since January - for which all the inspiration and support I get from this forum must take some credit.

All the best and enjoy your running,

AHSx

A lot of explaining.😁 I have my first HM next Sunday and I am a slow slow runner. My training session for the HM have been as long as some of marathon training sessions if you are average speed. It takes a lot to fit it all in and I am a focused sort of person. Knowing my luck I would get in then I really would have a lot to explain. But I have until Friday to decide.

Go for it - I am thinking of it and may have my head in the clouds really as I can only run 6-7k. I went to watch a friend last weekend, we were at the point where it goes back on itself. My mate was at the 21 mile point at 4.45hrs and there were a lot of people walking the other side who were at 13 miles at 4.45. The atmosphere was great but I don't know how thin the crowds became later and having done a marathon length walk the training does take time. As I write this I think I am barmy!!!

Wow 4 stone is fantastic! Good luck with the ballot and happy running

My name is in there too! Aiming for a half marathon at the end of June and stepping up the miles to get there. Exciting! Wouldn't have dreamed of this in January.

Never mind the running, four stone since January? That's about 3lb a week! That is a remarkable achievement and not easy to do. Well done.

Marathon? You'll sprint all the way!

Thanks Rob - as I said to the wife yesterday, if I keep it up I'll be 3st this time next year!

Well done! Losing the weight is not so hard when you can run is it! Keep up the good work. Momentum is the thing. Entering races is a good way of keeping you focussed on what your aims are. Being slim and healthy. Happy too as running is so good for our wellbeing. Ah, all is well in C25k land. Another one hooked

Good luck with your quest for a London Marathon place. Have you a second choice one for if you don't hit the jackpot?

Well done AHS. Seriously impressed on all fronts.

I have a confirmed place for Brighton (one week earlier than London) as I wanted to avoid the ballot.
