I was working in docklands yesterday so I popped into Excel and took a look at the Virgin Marathon Expo. It filled a large exhibition hall with just about everything you could dream of to do with running. I could have spent ££££ and I'm not even running the marathon! Lots of free tasters of energy bars (they all taste like waxy flapjacks to me) and even a small (very small) free beer from a sponsor.

It's on again today if you're anywhere near. Entry was free and seemed to be open to runners and non-runners alike.

I have booked a spot in bed tomorrow morning in front of the telly with a large pot of tea and a box of tissues to hand. I always sob my way through the marathon telly coverage with all the moving stories. Fortunately my husband is out at work tomorrow, so he won't have to suffer my grizzling!!

Oh yes Useit, some of the stories are absolutely heartbreaking arent they ?

I always end up shedding a few tears watching it.....

It is a amazing affirmation of how strong and courageous people can be after suffering so much tragedy and adversity in their lifes ......

Amazing ...... xxx

Cant wait to watch it on TV, this will be the first year i've ever really been genuinely interested to watch it! Might do a 2.62 mile run in tribute haha.

Do we have any representatives in it?

The ballot process to get a place must be a complete pain.

Am in London at the moment. My step-daughter is running her first marathon tomorrow! Am so excited and am in awe of so many fantastic people! Off out to get her a huge bowl of pasta tonight! Can't ever imagine being able to run so far.

I was fortunate enough to be in Hamburg this weekend where they also had a Marathon. Truly inspirational! I was outside for a good hour (at least!) cheering them on at around 37k. Ah I want to do it next year! A bit of training required but I feel so inspired by it all. Such a massive party!
