Dont worry about speed, take it slow, make sure you take your rest days, and dont panic when you get to week 9 if you realise you are not going to manage 5k, just be proud that you can run 30 minutes :D Thats it in a nutshell. Oh, and dont read the weeks ahead or you will scare yourself, whereas if you just take it week by week, you will be ready for the next one.

Listen to Laura. She will see you through. Rest is as important as running. Make sure you have a good pair of shoes. You only have to prove to yourself that you can do this. Enjoy parkrun in 9 weeks time :) Good luck

Don't forget to do some stretches afterwards, otherwise you'll ache so bad you won't want to do Run 2!!

Very much agree with the after-run stretches! There are some useful exercises on the NHS website which don't take a lot of time but are really good:

Well done on making a start. Like most graduates, I cannot speak highly enough of this programme, it really works. Welcome to the forum, and I hope you enjoy it. You will find your capability grows as you do it, don't worry yet about what is to come, take it 1 run at a time. Try to get your self a routine about when you run and tell others what you are doing. Go slowly, it's about achieving the elapsed time not speed or distance. 5k doesn't matter, at least for now.

Relax and slowly slowly. Trust in Laura and yourself. But most of all enjoy it. Keep us posted.
