Things I learned today (at Parkrun)

1. Tilgate Parkrun is hillier than I remembered.

2. I CAN run (albeit slowly) up Chevron! (agedsnailspace will understand)

3. I need music to run (forgot my iPod)

4. When your Nike + app loses GPS it is exceedingly annoying.

5. The people at Tilgate Parkrun are lovely - marshalls and even other runners were urging me on all the way.

6. I get like a little kid waiting for my results email to arrive.

(And it was a pb! 35.52 - yay :) )

Thanks Rob. Still some way from catching you but each run is quicker at the moment - now over 2 minutes quicker than my first Parkrun.

Not so far OG and certainly a lot faster than I am on the IC :) keep at it OG

Well done! Apps failing = very annoying though. Happened to me for the first time yesterday. And I know exactly what you mean about waiting for your Parkrun time!

Thanks GL, it was the first time it had happened to mine. Tried to tell me I'd only run 4.7k and had my time about a minute longer than Parkrun official time! Stupidly pleased when I got my results e-mail though :)

How you getting on with your Parkruns? I should look at this Quest thing - you're doing that aren't you?

in reply to Buffy007

I've only done two parkruns so far. Was going to go today but had to work unfortunately. Will try next week, and yes quest was to run three times a week minimum - so far so good!

Ha. I've run without music a few times. It's tough at the start, but eventually you get mesmerized with your own heavy breathing and feet hitting the pavement. And I completely agree with feeling like a kid waiting for those results!! Nice work on the PB

Thanks! Actually I quickly 'forgot' I wasn't listening to music and just started singing to myself. :)

Wish I had the breath for singing!

Well done m'dear. That's a great pace, especially if there were hills involved :)

Well done, 5k! Apps are funny things. I did park run today and my app had me doing 5.4k, my brother's had us doing less than 5k and we had apparently both managed to swim part of the route across the park's lake! My brother suggested that if that was the case, we should probably consider triathlon training!

Same here, can't do as good without the music. Is it the rhythm that helps?

Well done you, pat on the back!

I think it's partly the rhythm (I try to listen to quite 'pacey' music when I run) but also I find it stops me thinking too much about how far I've got to go etc.
