And a Giraffe goes Galloping by...

Out yesterday for W5R1 and I just happen to pass my teenage daughter and her boyfriend out for a walk. As I believe it is every parents duty to embarrass their teenagers, I gave them a hearty wave and a loud "Hellooo" as I jogged passed.

Later on that evening I commented that I was unsure if the embarrassment was because I had seen them or because they had seen me running (think Miranda more than Jessica Ennis!!). She laughed nervously and said that boyfriend had said, almost absent mindedly " and a Giraffe goes Galloping by.."

I was delighted!!!

There aren't many African animals running about on the West coast of Scotland so I'm happy with Giraffe. Could have been Hippo!!

I like that boy

There's nothing wrong in embarrassing your children it's fun, and I like your comparison at the end. You must be a lean mean running machine! 😊

New-to-jogging; no I have a long way to go before I can be described as lean- I like my food too much!!

I love this post :-)

You must be very fit, if I was you, I would have only managed a quiet "hell" without any "ooooo" :-P

Love it! 'Galloping' too :)

Hmm- thinking back I saw them at the beginning of the run. Perhaps if they had seen me towards the end, the comment may have along the lines of " and a large pink, sweaty Hippo goes staggering by..."

I would be so proud if someone said that about my running. That's brilliant.

Brilliant - so glad you made the best of your opportunity!

Yeah, that's cool (in the language of the young, or don't they say that these days?)
