...two songs from my playlist that made me smile, today, given the irony...I wasn't lazy (got out of bed, went for a 7k run - not something I would have expected me to do just a few months ago) and the sky was most definitely not blue (grey & showery, with a vicious headwind in parts).
The 'I'm a runner' bit isn't a week 6 Laura-is-with-me kind of thing (although I seem to remember believing her a few months ago...), but I really do feel like a runner today, coz...
I set a goal - 7k OR 55mins - I've been increasing my distance & duration a little each week on my, now established (can you believe it), weekend 'long run'.
I made myself a 175 to 180 bpm playlist last night (I've put my playlist at the bottom of the post for anyone who's interested...it's a weird selection that helps make my post tags look interesting - lol!!)
I got out in the wind, cold & rain...and found it really quite pleasant (except, perhaps, for the headwind), and..
I reached my goal...yay!! - 7k in 54.32 min's (so 7.42 min's per Km)...not my fastest pace, but I'm very pleased with it - half was on the trail, half on tarmac...I lost pace when I went a bit off-piste on a narrow uphill track and had to clamber over a fallen tree shortly before an unavoidable squishy mud patch that was two steps wide...left foot went for a squelchy dip!! All good fun and the laces are still orange!!
I set my Garmin...oh, did I say we had an early Christmas - son disappearing to the Swiss slopes for a month over Christmas, so we did something last weekend - joint pressie with daughter & OH - a 210, very lovely ...I call mine Basil - he's great and we get along just fine! Anyway, set intervals on Basil of 50 secs run: 50 secs walk and ran through, or shortened, some walk breaks on downhills & when I felt I could run for longer. Intervals are still working for me.
So, my legs feel nicely exercised & I'm looking forward to a wee beer tonight!!
Hope you're all getting great weekend runs...happy running
Here's my playlist...
starts from around 175bpm to 180bpm (BPMs worked out with jog.fm - about half an hour or so of each). I have it playing away quietly in one ear to help me keep my pace - I love moving to music, so find this works really well for me.
