Dansmum needs to get going again. While it is great to see so many people enjoying the benefits of C25K now, I wondered where everybody is from my year, anybody still running
Hiya again, any Graduates on here still from t... - Couch to 5K
Hiya again, any Graduates on here still from that good old year of 2012, Greg M? Oldgirl? Bxster??
Hi Dansmum
I did the program Feb-April 2012.
Still running, averaging about 30 mins twice a week, which combined with two personal trainer sessions at the gym every week ,suits me fine.
I've had to restart the program a couple of times after injury, and once just to get my mojo back, but running is always there!
I think this site has over 1000 members now, but there is also a fab page......c25kers.....where a lot of people do their stuff.
It was great "back in the good old days" when we started but it's brilliant that so many have found c25k and the benefits of running, and also the support of everyone on here.
I've toyed with going faster and further, getting up to 10k at one point, but for me, just getting out there for half an hour twice a week is enough.......I found I was getting obsessed with time, distance, pace, etc.
Anyway, welcome back, dust those trainers off, and let us know how you go!
At least you know you can do it!
Good luck xxx
Me! Did the programme over the same period as gypsydepp. Still at it. Now a healthy BMI from obese when I started the programme and overweight when I finished it. I've worked up to running 10k but mostly do 30 minutes or so sloshing round woods once or twice a week, but now do a short yoga practice every morning, do a bit more yoga and meditation at other times, graduated from Laura again with the NHS Strength and Flexibility podcasts, and have worked up to swimming a kilometre. I always take part in the Quests that Realfoodieclub organises here which are great for sorting out and achieving your own goals, and Dozzer had a great Discombobulated Triathlon I was proud to join in with.
I feel a bit sad sometimes seeing all the people who come and then go. I don't do Facebook (I like my life more compartmentalised than that) And I find it frustrating that my overall energy levels haven't improved and still have to spend most of my life in bed (I aspire to being able to be a couch potato!) But it is great to have been able to do *something*!
Great to hear success stories a couple of years on!! Well done peeps!!
Still here, still running, a bit quiet on the internet though.
I'm a lapsed 2012 graduate, been back on the 'programme' for the last six months though. Still lurk more than I post!
Different attitude this time around though; much slower in my need for improvement and not so quick to throw in the towel. I'd given up by this stage two years ago. This time around I've entered a 10k race on Sunday, a HM next March and another 10k pencilled in next July (and hoping to add more to the mix).
Still here three year on, on the bench at the moment with a shoulder injury but hope to be out there out again in the new year Pat
HI Dansmum ,
I remember you from back then (I am a Dan's mum too!)
I started Feb 2012 and 1st graduated in the April. Been on and off running ever since, stopped a few times because of injury, lack of motivation and some family issues and restarted with Laura at various weeks depending on how long I was on the couch. I think I've probably graduated 5 times or more. Recently had a horrendous time in my personal life (having just re graduated again) but after 5 weeks off i managed to start again with the speed runs (I quite like the early weeks with Laura but just couldn't face listening to Julie again!) Currently running regularly and tonight managed 3.1 miles in about 31mins (Runkeeper has gone imperial on me and I keep forgetting to change it back to KM). I don't post very often but like to read what others are up to, after one of my breaks I couldn't believe how many more people were on here than when I first started.
Good luck with starting again, let us know how you get on
I am still here too, graduated June 2012. I am still running outside approx 7K once a week and a 5k treadmill run once a week as well as my gym classes. Still love the challenge of running Now got my hubby on the programme too.
Me too, graduated August 2012 - over 2 years on and a couple of injuries later still running and loving it. Lots of us old school about on the beyond c25k facebook group, as well the original c25k fb group. Come on Dansmum, you can do it!
Thanks everyone who replied to my 2012 query, it was good to hear of people still going and doing it, you all have my admiration. Afraid I am a well lapsed Graduate, but I am beginning to feel the twitch of wanting to get out there and doing it again. Will post when I start, and Notbad and Gysydepp, thanks for the tip about the other pages and facebood, happy running!
