thank you to all of you who have stood at the foot of my bed each morning when I was looking for excuses! All of you on this forum have been such an inspiration as well as a lot of nagging nannies and I thank you for it.
I ran my first post graduation run yesterday and although its still hard and I'm still very, very slow I ran for 30 minutes.
I've decided on a plan of action........ keep running for 30 minutes but I'm leaving 2 rest days in between. My hips are finding things a bit tough going and I think the extra rest means I won't give up. When things improve over the 30 minutes I'll add the next challenge but think also as the autumn and winter are progressing just getting out there for 30 minutes in horrid weather might just be enough for now.
Also, wanted to see my Graduation Badge up there!
Yippeeeeeeeee and lots of love.

That appears to be a very sound plan. Your hips will eventually catch up with the rest of you (as my knees now pretty much have) and then perhaps you can plan a new goal. I'm just doing my 30 mins 3x per week in the hope that I start to get a bit faster. If I get a bit faster, I might go a bit further too! I am a little nervous of trying the next step podcasts as I think I just need to get used to this running lark properly first. I said I'd consolidate for a month, and then I will see how I'm getting on. Took MMR out with me yesterday, and I was slower than the last time, which wasn't very encouraging, but it was windy and I stupidly took on a bit of a hill too (we're talking East Anglia here, so it wasn't exactly Ben Nevis, but for me it felt like a lot of hard work!).
I don't think half as many people would complete this programme (and continue) without this forum. I usually have the tablet up and running in the kitchen and I glance at the posts as I toddle around doing my jobs from time to time - it makes me laugh a lot and also reminds me why I put myself through the pain of early mornings and all that huffing and puffing - my mental and physical wellbeing have improved so dramatically since June, I would be a fool to give up, but like you I need a kick-up every now and then when I'm feeling a bit wussy!
Doesn't that graduation badge look lovely. Sounds like you have a good plan there. The aim of the game is to keep running and you need to be realistic. Good luck with the autumn/winter running.
That graduate badge does look particularly fine. Hope your hips eventually catch up with the rest of your fitness, as useitorloseit says. In the meantime, enjoy your 2 runs a week
I agree...sounds like a great plan! I'm just a few runs away from my graduation, so have been wondering how to approach the autumn/winter post c25k runs...this forum helps sooo much - seeing everyones ideas. I saw a post about speed+ podcast today and thought that looked like a good idea for odd runs too, but, like useit, I think I'll need to consolidate before I move onto more challenging stuff . Thanks for sharing your thoughts & ideas.
Hi Rebecca - sorry I'm a bit late to the party, but many congratulations on graduating!!!!!!!
Running twice a week sounds like a good plan ... it's what I'm doing too. I'm keeping up with a longer run each weekend (managed 35 minutes non stop on Saturday!) and then I'm trying a shorter but pacier (who am I kidding, but it is slightly faster than my long run pace!) run midweek.
You've got to do what's right for your body and what fits in around the rest of your life. Good luck and keep going!
Hi Rebecca (or SB ). I think you have a sound plan there. I felt at a bit of a loss at the end of the program as I wasn't to sure what to do next, but what you might like to try is to sign up for a 5km run. I know 30mins feels like a lot at the moment because you' er only just graduated but you will be surprised what a motivation it is to sign up for a run, and when you actually run with lots of other people it is just so much fun!! Go on, set yourself another target and then stick to it. I promise you will enjoy it and it will still get you out of bed in the morning.
