On Saturday, I went to a new Parkrun - where it seemed to me that I was the oldest there. But it turns out that there was one man older than me - in the 70-74 age bracket . He ran the 5K in 22 minutes.
Today in Brisbane , we had a 5k/10K/21k "funrun" -- the winner ran the 10K in 29:32, got in a car back to the starting line in time for the 5K event and ran that in 14: 07.
It's not fair!!!!!

Wow thats some going! How fantastic to run a 5k in 22 mins at any age, let alone in your seventies! We have a lady in same age bracket at our parkrun who runs in well under 30 mins, her fastest time this year is just over 24 mins! Never mind! that 10k/5k man is pretty amazing too !
Knitting?!! -A nice hat for cold weather would be good!
Running and knitting are not mutually incompatable! After all, after a long or hard training session it's good to sit with your feet up and you may as well occupy your hands.
I'm looking forward to the long dark evenings, when I pick up my pins again and start a new knitting project, as I rest my other pins on the sofa!
But I admit after particularly hard sessions I sometimes threaten to take up stamp collecting!
I too am addicted to both!! Walking and knitting (and spinning on a drop spindle) are historically known with yarn either drawn from a bag hung on wrist or fastened to a bag on the belt. In the Outer Hebrides I believe spinning and knitting using raw fleece spun and then knit on the move whilst moving livestock or just getting from A to B, resulted in excellent waterproof socks, the lanolin in the raw fleece repelling a degree of water - however whiff-y!!
Running and knitting at the same time? Perhaps possible - but not this week!
