Friday's Fastest Mile Fun... Intervals..

Evening all,

Just so I don't renege on it, tomorrow is going to be some "speed work" and I've decided it's going to be an exciting session of "fastest miles" followed by a suitable recovery period (I would imagine about a week) and then doing it again... :)

Yes - it's time for the Aussie to push the limits for 1.61km at a time and see just how fast I can get a mile on the feet... My goal is 8 minutes or under and I expect to be able to do 2, maybe 3 of these with about 5-10 minutes recovery between miles... I don't expect ALL three to be under 8 minutes... I suspect the last mile might be about 27 minutes... :)

This could be fun... at least it'll be over quick... hahaha... :)

I have my "Fast and Furious" playlist all lined up ready to rock!

That's a good plan, telling people what you are going to do so that you have to do it. I did something like that with the first 20 minute run. This sounds a bit more strenuous, good luck and keep us informed.

It is tempting, isn't it?! I don't think Aussie intended to pose a challenge to the forum, but I think that's what may have happened! :D

Yes it is. Such a trend setter and we have the benefit of seeing how he does before we decide whether it's for us.

Oh good luck Aussie, fanTastic targets, i am humbled ... your fitness has snowballed WAY beyond mine now .... i know this because, weirdly (seeing this post now), last night i was exTREMEly short of time, half an hour between finishing work and collecting Prodigal Son - quick change and decided to drive car to where i'd pick him up then, after walking out a few minutes, to run as fast as i could from roundabout to traffic lights and back ..... had no idea how far that was but it's downhill out and uphill back (as you'd expect!) ... took me 11mins30 ....... it's 1.76km .......oh dearie me :-(

However, on the plus side, your idea on recovery is great cos, had i had more time, i would have done exactly that and certainly felt i could go again .... my guess is you'll get faster over the three attempts!

Have fun!!!
