W9 R1 done, but...

Well I did w9r1 this morning at the gym. I am so pleased, managing to run for 30 minutes straight. I do find running on a treadmill easier than outdoors so my next two runs will be outside.

As of my first post on here a few weeks back I haven't seen Mr and Mrs Gazelle, but that's probably for the best. To give you an idea, you know those models you see photographs of in the running magazines/websites. Well if those models came across Mr and Mrs Gazelle, they'd probably give up modelling and go get a doner kebab.

I've been thinking a lot about what next... Straight onto B210k or the C25k+? Any advice would be appreciated. I do have a bit more time on my hands for this month so maybe the B210k?

Also I've been thinking about what other physical activity to do on my off days. Has anyone done a weight/strength training programme? And if you have, how did you work in legs? Or do you just miss a running session?

Something odd I've noticed is that I when I run either looking down at my feet or just ever so slightly bent forward I seem to be midfoot stiking but if I am straight up, I seem to heel strike. Maybe I'm just imagining it.

Don't know what I'm going to do for a treat on completion, to be honest I have got myself a load of gear since I started this. Went to a Sweatshop yesterday about 20 miles from me in Milton Keynes. I can see that may be expensive especially as I'd never heard of them until I came on here. I kind of fancy the new TomTom Cardio HRM and GPS combine with no chest strap.

Maybe I should just concentrate on getting C25k done first!

LOL

Well done on getting to week 9. Personally I don't care what people think I look like when I'm out running. There are all shapes and sizes out there.

Having graduated a couple of days ago, I started on the 5K+ stepping stone podcast today. It gets you to concentrate on your running posture e.g. not looking down at your feet! Maybe you should give the 5K+ a go first. I'm also doing a parkrun in a few weeks.

Good luck for the last 2 runs!

That post has just made me chuckle and reminded me of my run. As i was huffing and puffing on my hard run last friday around the corner popped a slim, toned, tanned, ultra chic lady. I had to keep telling myself I am out running and should be proud. If i had a big fat cake I would have given it to her.

Sunday is always my rest day and i enjoy cycling and i just have started doing some exercises to try to strengthen my knees - i have included squats and lunges, next week sit ups and something else. Still wanting to join a gym for swimming but haven't built myself up to going yet.

I got garmin with a heart rate monitor, i haven't used the heart rate monitor as i can't be doing with the chest strap (didn't want the heart rate monitor but comes as standard in chile and still ended up being £80 cheaper than uk) I got mine before i graduated as i wanted to know how far i had run, i feel it has been worth it especially as i don't own a fancy phone which can download apps. Running is an expensive business.

Good luck with your final two runs!
