so happy I am starting wk9 on Sunday but I am worried that all I have managed to run so far during those 28 min it has been for around 4k, no way 2 minutes more in week 9 will take me to 5k! what am I doing wrong? what can I do to improve? Thank you!!!
W9 R1: so happy I am starting wk9 on Sunday but... - Couch to 5K
W9 R1
I would just do week 9 then add week 10 and 5k distance ...... or the last run on week 9 go for the 5km .... just a thought I’m only on week 6 well done
You are not doing anything wrong.
Only a small proportion of graduates from this forum who responded to a poll, managed 5k in 30 minutes by graduation healthunlocked.com/couchto5....
Graduation requirements are that you complete three thirty minute runs, regardless of distance.
Just stick at an easy pace. Speed will come in time.
I'm just breaking 3K in 28 minutes. I guess I might reach 5K eventually. I think we're supposed to stick to 30 minutes for a month before we start increasing our runs -steadily each week.
Just running for 30 minutes is our goal.
The fact you're closer to 5K than me is a bonus.
Don't sweat it to reach unachievable targets.
Get to 30 minutes and you will get to 5K soon enough. It's not a race.
Enjoy it.
Quite a few months on from graduating I am often running 5k but it takes 35 mins. Don’t worry Re the 5k at W9. Most it seems don’t get there till later. Me too!
Hi Parrula, just seen some of the replies. no need for me to repeat same advice. I start W9 and am about same'ish distance as Rennur. Different journey for everyone for different reasons...but being able to run for 30 mins is a brill achievement...the majority of us struggled with W1... You're doing fantastic, will be thrilled when I get to 4k. All the best.👍👍🙋
Don’t worry at all, you are doing nothing wrong, and everything right. I’m on my 8th consolidation run and still running around 35mins for 5k.
Just enjoy the runs with no pressure, you doing great 👍
That’s great, so you are achieving each time you run👍🏻 Two more runs and we will see your graduation post 😊
