Just done wk 5 run 2 and I'm flagging. I think most people could have walked faster than I was jogging!! Got through it but really panicking at the thought of a 20 minute run on the next one. Should I do wk 5 II again as I'm not at all confident?

Okay - so here's my advice (and it's worth what you paid for it of course)...

If you're intending to do W5R3 on Sunday (rest day tomorrow) then maybe think about doing it on Monday if you can... give yourself a longer rest period (2 days rather than 1) to give your body time to recover and for you to rest up for the big push for W5R3...

You can do it - the fact you've done W5R2 and completed it (forget how fast you are please - it's irrelevant) means that you are ready for R3 and the 20 minute run... believe in the programme...

BUT, and it's an important BUT - you MUST listen to your body... if you're tired and not rested then you might find R3 a bit much...

I'd suggest an extra rest day and then go out there all fresh and knock that run out of the park!

I'd go for it with R3. What's the worst that could happen if you're rested up and you don't get to 20 minutes? You need to walk a minute or two? Bah - no different to re-doing R2... I say you go for it! You're ready!

No, you'll be fine, honestly. Slow is absolutely fine. Slow is where you find your running legs, it's where they're built, so don't worry. Laura tells you that a "slow jog" is all that's required.

Calm down, chill, stop worrying. The programme is designed so that if you've done all the runs then you're ready to move to the next one.

Set out to enjoy your runs. I think half the problems folks have are caused by being over-anxious. Good luck!

Thanks misswobble. Hard to enjoy run when legs and lungs are on fire but I'm visualising all that fat of mine melting! About half way on both the running and the weight, I will reach the finishing line on both. Will keep posting on how I get on.

You're doing just fine!

You know what? - you say a lot of people could have walked faster but there are a lot of people who are not out there doing what you are doing. You are off that couch and running, so well done. Good advice from the other posts. Take it easy and stick with the programme and do take those rest days

Thanks mossy1, doesn't help that hubby is a graduate and daughter is a dancer, I tend to run alone as I feel so self conscious. Don't get me wrong they are very supportive, I just can't keep up with them. Even my westie runs faster than me!

Never seen that Westie run as far as you! Granted he's dead quick over 20 yards....

Only if he sees a squirrel or a rabbit and I don't see the point in chasing them, plus Laura doesn't chase animals.

You do realise I'm sitting 6 feet away from you, don't you?

I have done w5r3 this morning and although I was apprehensive about the jump it was fine - just a case of one foot in front of the other....during the cool down walk I had to fight the urge to run again..... Good luck!

As others have said, it doesn't matter how slow you run - you could be overtaken by a tortoise with a Zimmer frame - it doesn't matter as long as you keep going.

Don't compare yourself to others - my wife has done an Iron Man - she isn't warmed up by 5K - if I'd compared myself to her I would never have got off the couch! What matters is YOU are doing this programme and that is brilliant.

Iron man?

Yep!

C25k sounds so much more appealing now!, hats off to other half but I give up bragging rights on that. Just a nod of the head for what I've done so far and nerves of steel for what's to come

I did that one earlier this week. Just did W6R1 this morning. Trust me, once you get into a rhythm you won't feel any pain. It's just one foot in front of the other and slooowwww ...

I just did run 2 of week 5 and am apprehensive about run 3!! My phone buggered up tonight and I think I ran for 11 minutes on my first part of the run!!! Frustrating to say the least!! What's the worst that could happen!! (Doctor pepper time) !! I don't do it and have to retry.?? Not really the worst thing in the world. I am out there at 7am on Sunday morning. With 50 laps of the pool afterwards!! I must be mad!!!!!!!!!! Good luck with you run 3 x

I'm feeling exactly the same - completed wk 5 run 2 last night but can't believe that the next jump to 20min will be remotely possible. I'm also tempted to repeat run 2 again but after reading all the replies am more motivated to trust the programme!!
